What’s the most exciting thing about your job?
Working on large projects can be incredibly exciting. Building that key relationship with a client and helping them realise their goals, from idea inception to final delivery is immensely rewarding.
Who has inspired you most in your career?
Bit of a corny answer but it has to be my Dad. Didn’t do that well at school, similar to myself, but forged a hugely succesful career in the Fire Service. This undoubtably instilled a work ethic in me and a belief that anything can be achieved through hard work. Of course the fact that he is a total legend of a human being has also rubbed off on me.
If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?
The boss.
If you had your time again, what would you do different?
I’d have loved to have taken a gap year after college and travelled the world.
What’s your favourite pastime?
Playing my guitars and singing, I find it extremely cathartic and it really annoys the neighbours.
Do you play a sport, follow a sport or support a team?
My 45 year old knees prevent me from playing anymore but I love football and I am a dyed in the wool bluenose – The Famous Glasgow Rangers.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened in your career?
It would probably have to be coming out of an important client visit and then realising to my horror that the zip on my trousers had in fact been down the whole time… not a good first impression.
Do you have any hidden talents?
A magician – give me a karaoke mic and I’ll make a room full of people disappear in seconds.
Who would be your favourite party guest?
Dave Grohl.
What is the greatest luxury in your life?
My family.
If you won the Lottery, what would you do?
Buy a villa in Florida and Ibiza.
Who or what makes you laugh?
Observational humour gets me every time.
I love comedians like Jim Jeffries, Steve Hughes, Kevin Bridges and of course, the greatest ever, Billy Connolly, I could sit and watch them all day.
What’s your dream holiday?
Route 66 across the States in a Shelby Mustang, is definitely a bucket list trip.
What’s your favourite music album?
The Stone Roses self-titled first album.
What’s your favourite movie or Netflix series?
Good Will Hunting
What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?
Make the leap!!! It’s an exciting time in the industry currently with some amazing technological advancements in areas like automation for example. Being a big part of the drive to a more sustainable future for the industry as a whole is also something that excites me. Its ever evolving and every day is different. I have built up some great relationships and friendships over the years (coming up for 10, I believe that’s a Rolex?).
