18 months without the UK’s leading packaging event is far too long, says Renan Joel, Divisional Director at Easyfairs. Well, the wait is finally over, with Packaging Innovations and Empack returning to Birmingham’s NEC on 25 and 26 May. We cannot wait to see everyone when the doors finally open for 2022.

Visitors have access to over 250 leading suppliers, getting hands on with the latest in technology, design, and innovation. They have the opportunity to learn from the brightest and best packaging minds as part of the expert-led seminar programme and discover all things ‘green’ through the brand-new Sustainability Trail and the return of the Ecopack Challenge. Whether your specialism is contract packing and fulfillment, personal care, food and drink, household, pharmaceutical and chemical, or label and print, our event truly does have something for everyone!

The topic of sustainability has never been more prevalent on the global agenda and so it forms a central aspect of this year’s event. Professionals can discover suppliers who are leading the way towards a greener future at our Sustainability Trail. From materials to waste management, visitors are sure to find the right product or service to drive the sustainability performance of their next packaging project.

Our expert-led speaker programme will be split across three stages at this year’s event. Manufacturing, processing, and logistics professionals should head to The Empack Technology Stage, which will host a packed line-up of speakers from a range of companies, including Nestlé, Nulogy, GXO, Screen Europe, Lako Tool, Bobst, and Sparck Technologies. For those interested in learning more about the latest industry trends and insights, The Innovation and Design Stage and The Ecopack Stage promise to deliver two days of expert advice from a range of brands and agencies, including speakers from the Cambridge Design Partnership, HP, IOM3, and Robinson PLC.

If it’s outsourcing partners you’re looking for, be sure to chat to the BCMPA. You can find them in the Contract Pack and Fulfilment Zone, and they can provide advice on all your contract manufacturing, packaging, and e-commerce fulfilment needs.

After a fascinating discussion at the London event, The Big Debate will make its debut at the NEC, tackling the latest packaging regulations. The Ecopack Challenge winner will also be crowned live on the event floor, as the finalists compete to pitch their sustainable packaging solutions to a judging panel of household names, including Ocado and Pret A Manger.

Innovation continues to lie at the heart of our event, and The Innovation Showcase will highlight the brilliant work of our suppliers. Those shortlisted will be on display and will compete for the coveted ‘Most Innovative Pack’ award, as voted for by those in attendance.

The countdown to the event is on, and we can’t wait for May to arrive!
