The Port of Blyth and its facilities lie on both banks of the River Blyth Estuary, seven miles north of Tynemouth, on the Northumberland coast. It is a tidal deep water port and provides modern cargo handling facilities.

Recently, the port was very badly hit by Storm Arwen. The storm, in November 21, brought winds of almost 100mph and led to widespread damage, disruption and power cuts across the North East and Cumbria Large ‘sheds’ on the South Harbour bore the brunt of the storm, badly damaging their large access roller shutter doors. BID Groups North East Division were commissioned to supply and install replacement curtains, rails, and new heavy duty fabricated guides, which at 250mm wide, and manufactured from 6mm steel plate will significantly reduce the risk of the doors being damaged again during high winds in the future.

The project was completed within schedule, minimising downtime to our clients operations. BID North East is based in Newcastle Upon Tyne and covers the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria providing the supply, installation, maintenance, and repair of all types of Industrial Doors.
