Union Industries, the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-speed industrial roller doors, has extended its maintenance and service capabilities with the opening of larger premises for its South Service Division.

Located in Milton Keynes, the unit supports Union Industries’ growing portfolio of customers across the Midlands and south of England with planned maintenance and fast response reactive services.

Moving into a larger facility, which is manned by a team of experienced engineers, enables Union Industries to increase its stockholding of spare parts, ensuring service and repairs can be delivered quickly to minimise downtime.

The expansion is also in line with Union Industries’ growth strategy, which has led to its fast roller doors being specified in a multitude of new Regional Distribution Centres (RDCs) and Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs), factories and warehouses.

In addition, its rapid roll doors are incorporated into an increasing number of retrofit projects as facilities operators look to increase productivity and efficiencies on existing sites.

Significantly, the requirement for a larger service base is also a consequence of Union Industries being a UK manufacturer.

With the majority of its competitors’ doors made in Europe, issues such as Brexit has caused both increased prices for doors and replacement parts as well as longer delivery times.

As a result, many UK users are turning to Union Industries as they cannot afford to wait for extended periods for new doors or spare parts.  All of Union Industries’ doors are bespoke and made to order at its factory in Leeds.  Therefore, spare parts are held in stock, both in Yorkshire and the new Milton Keynes facility, enabling the company to provide a faster response.

Union Industries’ Lifetime Warranty scheme has also encouraged increased orders as it provides customers with peace of mind and dedicated access to the company’s service engineers for a fixed annual fee per door.

Tony Metcalfe, Operations Director at Union Industries, said: “We pride ourselves on both manufacturing high-quality products, but also the excellent after-sales services, both of which have created the need for a larger service unit in the south of England.

“The customers we serve are all focused on operating highly efficient facilities that ensure exceptional levels of productivity, which is why the reliability and capabilities of our robust and fast-acting doors are key considerations, as is the ability to have replacement parts supplied and fitted quickly to reduce downtime.

“As a British manufacturer we have been able to take advantage of Brexit and the supply issues caused by the pandemic, to place ourselves at the forefront of specifiers minds when it comes to selecting high speed roller doors.”
