The move towards direct-to-consumer has been hastened by the pandemic and many global companies are experiencing a 35% increase in their e-commerce business. Vanderlande has delivered its largest project on Russian soil to date, with the installation of its first ADAPTO shuttle-based automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) for Leroy Merlin, one of Russia’s largest DIY retailers. Two ADAPTO modules complete the solution with a total system capacity of 7,400 trays inbound and 7,400 trays outbound per hour. A total of approximately 75,000 storage locations are integrated within the highly automated solution, which is controlled by Vanderlande’s VISION software.

Avery Dennison has announced the launch of AD TT Sensor Plus BLE, an active temperature-logging sensor which utilises Bluetooth and Near Field Communication technologies. The new product is designed to automate temperature data collection in cold chain logistics, such as the transportation and storing of agricultural goods, seafood, frozen food or pharmaceutical products. AD TT Sensor Plus BLE is a cost-effective and system-agnostic temperature-logging solution which can help logistics managers to better monitor and protect the goods they are shipping, ensuring that they remain within a specific temperature range from the production phase to their delivery to the end customer.
