Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS), the leading UK suppliers of flexible wrapping solutions, have announced the acquisition of an additional Northern distribution centre opening for business on Friday 19th November 2021. The addition of this Heckmondwike-based site will see the scale of YPS occupied territory increase significantly to 70,000 sq foot and represents another great success for the unstoppable family packaging business.

The securement of this purpose-built warehouse space comes only nine months after the official opening of YPS’s new HQ, showroom and distribution centre in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, following a wholesale relocation from a significantly smaller site in Dewsbury. The thriving firm have consistently gone from strength to strength over the last decade but report that over the last twelve months in particular their growth has been ‘explosive’. 2021 has indeed shaped up to be a landmark year for the business, with growth stimulated not only by the investment in their sleek new headquarters, but also by a rebranded image, a workforce which has increased by 50% and a significantly expanded product range recently bolstered by cutting edge e-commerce packaging equipment and a range of recycled content flexible films.

YPS M.D. Glyn Johnson disclosed that the leased Heckmondwike facility is to be used as a storage and distribution site and is a stop-gap measure to accommodate the ever-growing demand for shrink and stretch film from the firm’s customer base until a suitable plot becomes available to amalgamate the business back to a single site operation. YPS prides itself on its capacity to stock-hold large quantities of these market-leading films that are primed and ready for next day deliveries to customers across the UK, something the firm were not willing to compromise on. As such, YPS drew on the expertise of local property experts Wharfdale, with whom the business has enjoyed a longstanding relationship, and this ideal space was sourced, scoped and secured within only a ten-day period. ‘Heckmondwike will allow us to meet our growing demand with almost immediate effect and uphold our fantastic levels of customer service without interruption. Longer term we are actually on the lookout for a permanent acquisition that will take our domain up to 100,000 sq foot in total, but this site was just too good an opportunity to pass up on in the short term’ Johnson continued.

The 20,000 sq foot distribution centre in Heckmondwike boasts a high double bay, state-of-the art warehouse space flanked by over one acre of dedicated yards and car parks. Situated within a fenced and gated industrial estate, the property is only a short 12 minute drive from the businesses’ primary Brighouse address and offers excellent transport links up and down the M62 corridor.
