Material handling, automation and maintenance specialist AMH Material Handling has been awarded another three-year contract for the maintenance of all material handling machinery at Asda’s George clothing warehouses.

The automated warehouses are located at four sites: Brackmills, Lymedale, North East Clothing and Wynyard. With on-site maintenance engineers stationed at each site, the total asset management maintenance programmes deliver 24-hour support, 365 days a year. They include preventative maintenance protection and AMH’s experienced engineers will look after a combination of its own installations and other OEMs’ equipment installed at the sites.

Exceeding expectations

The site-based maintenance contract review process took a total of six months for the Asda Logistics Services team to complete. It resulted in the renewal of an existing contract with AMH Material Handling. AMH was successfully awarded the contract after demonstrating its existing and future value; its proven track record of health and safety and legislative compliance, and its impressive performance in continually exceeding expectations and SLAs.

Nathan Bower, Senior Director – Engineering, Asda Logistics Services remarked: “Over the last five years, AMH has provided an excellent level of service supporting the Asda business, whether that is through site-based maintenance teams within our automated sites, or through the delivery of a number of innovative engineering projects. Such projects include the latest autonomous mobile robot installation in our parcel sortation centre. In every aspect of their work, AMH strive to deliver great quality and value to our company.”

AMH – An extension of our team

Jon Parry, Vice President, Asda Logistics Services also commented on Asda’s successful long term partnership with AMH, stating: “The AMH Material Handling team has been engaged with Asda since 2008, and has over 60 years of combined senior management experience.

“AMH Material Handling work as an extension of our team; their people are embedded and aligned with Asda’s way of working. They support us strategically, from concept and design through to delivery, whether in ‘business as usual’ or project integration.

“Working collaboratively with our partners this way gives both parties excellent opportunities to strengthen commercial relationships in and around Asda Logistics Services. In turn, this supports technological and commercial growth and diversity in the business.”
