What’s the most exciting thing about your job?

The most exciting thing about my job is meeting businesses at whichever stage of operation that they are at, and then working with them to take it to the next level. Whether that is advising them on how to improve their processes, or looking into solutions and automation to help them optimise. It’s great to see what a difference it really makes when you can see their whole journey and check in a few years afterwards to see how the operation is doing now. Problem solving to find the perfect solution is always a challenging but very exciting element of my role.

Who’s inspired you most in your career?

I’d definitely say my colleagues from OrderWise. We’ve done some fantastic projects together over the years and their guidance has helped me a lot during my career. I’m hoping to spend many more years to come with them!

If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?

A handheld terminal! I have always been a huge advocate of handheld barcode scanning WMS solutions and I’ve really found my niche when implementing these, so for me it feels only right.

If you had to do it all over again, what would you do different?

Honestly, I feel like I wouldn’t change much at all. I’ve always followed my instincts in what I think is the best thing to, and always taken on another exciting opportunity with dedication and passion to do what I do. Starting out as an apprentice really helped me to work hard and focus on particular goals.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you at work?

I think it was when I failed to reverse park one of the company cars into a tight space. Most of my implementation team was watching! It probably took me at least 15 attempts or so to actually complete.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I used to play the violin when I was younger.

What is the greatest luxury in your life?

To sound cliché, the greatest luxury in my life is to be happy and healthy, and having fantastic friends and family around me.

What is your favourite guilty pleasure?

Definitely some cheesy playlist of old school 90’s tunes whilst out on the road.

Do you have any secret ambitions?

Well, that would be telling!

What’s your dream holiday destination?

The dream holiday would be to visit New Zealand or Canada.

What are your three favourite movies of all time?

They would have to be Lord of the Rings, Focus and the Matrix.

What’s your favourite pastime?

I really enjoy Golf.

What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?

I feel like the industry has a lot of opportunities to really make a difference, as well as carving out a great career. There’s always so much happening in lots of different sectors. My advice would be to work hard and really go after something that you are truly passionate about. It makes all the difference waking up in the morning if you know you’re working at something you really enjoy.
