With one of the widest product portfolios on the market, SSI SCHAEFER offers modular conveying solutions that are ideal for helping you optimise your material flow. With conveying systems for hanging, small or large loads, SSI SCHAEFER’s comprehensive product range features high quality, adaptable and future-proof solutions for the efficient transport of your goods.

“Because our portfolio is so vast, we have the advantage of not being driven by a particular product,” explained Timothee Gauvrit, Head of Automation Sales at SSI Schaefer UK. “Conveyors are part of a wider solution; they are one key element among many others and we provide full turnkey solutions from a single source. If we offer a conveying system, it’s because we have evaluated it against other alternatives and believe it to be the most appropriate for your application.

“We are also vertically integrated, meaning we control the full supply chain, from steel production, manufacturing of the static and automated elements, all the way to installation. We can therefore ensure the highest product quality and provide bespoke solutions.”

So why might you choose a conveyor instead of an AGV or manual alternative? “The main parameters to consider are distance and throughput – how many units do you need to move per hour, and how far? When distance and throughput is high, a conveying system is often a strong solution to increase efficiency and reduce labour intensive activities.”

Indeed, the prime objective of conveyors is to reduce manual handling of products, decrease walking or driving distances, and increase productivity. Manual sortation of dispatch cartons can be highly labour intensive and space consuming, while introducing a simple conveying system can achieve great efficiencies in labour and space usage.

Conveyors also greatly increase energy efficiency. “To achieve this, we use intelligent light sensors and frequency controlled drive technology. The conveyor’s speed is automatically controlled depending on the desired performance, so with smaller volumes the energy consumption is reduced, and the conveyor is automatically stopped when there are no load units to transport.”

One of SSI SCHAEFER’s overhead conveying systems, the SSI Carrier, is a highly dynamic pouch sorter system for e-commerce and omni-channel distribution, offering high flexibility, sorting accuracy and process safety. Accumulating, buffering, distributing and sorting can all be performed with this single load carrier type, which also offers increased storage density thanks to its small, space-saving design.

The SSI Carrier’s single part access ensures fast sorting and efficient handling of returns, with parallel processing of multiple distribution channels. Modular, scalable, and user-friendly, the SSI Carrier is incredibly versatile featuring high throughput, low maintenance and universal applicability for weights of up to 2.5 kg.

The SSI Overhead Conveyors range also includes the SSI Mover, for heavier loads up to 10 kg, and the SSI Single for transporting and sorting single hangers on horizontal and vertical conveyors.

As well as hanging applications, SSI SCHAEFER has conveying systems for large load carriers, including its pallet conveyor systems. With a modular design, pre-assembled components, and energy-saving frequency-controlled drive technology, SSI SCHAEFER’s pallet conveying systems allow flexible internal transport between production, warehouse, picking and dispatch. What’s more, the plastic belt technology enables transport with and without load carriers for materials up to 1.6 metres wide.

Other conveying systems for large load carriers include the tray conveying system for layer trays in Euro or Indu dimensions, the roller container conveying system for transporting roll cages without any additional carrier pallets, and the plastic belt conveying system for transporting all kinds of unit loads without the need for any additional loading aids.

For small load carriers, SSI SCHAEFER’s carton and tote conveying system is ideal. From storage automation, to manufacturing, to machine integration, the system is nearly limitless in its capabilities. The transport system includes conveyor technology modules for totes, cartons, trays, and products of up to a maximum of 50 kg, with functions for conveying, sorting, inward and outward transfer, storing, and stowing. Another option for small load carriers is the case conveying system, with standard components suitable to transport bins and cartons as well as products packed in shrink-wrap.

This is merely a snapshot of SSI SCHAEFER’s huge range of conveying systems, all of which can be adapted to suit your specific requirements, and SSI SCHAEFER can also offer visited maintenance and full onsite resident maintenance.

So, no matter what your load carrier, if you’re looking for a customised transport system to optimise your material flow, SSI SCHAEFER’s modular conveying systems offer a future-proof solution which will fit seamlessly into your processes.
