It’s been an outstanding year for the Forklift Training Engineering Centre (F-TEC), filled with celebrations, new launches and success.

Managing Director at F-TEC

July 2019 saw F-TEC, the dedicated training facility, celebrate its third year in business.

F-TEC, based in Swindon, Wiltshire, offers an extensive range of forklift engineering programmes, including; apprenticeships, advanced level courses, thorough examination, diagnostics, safety, and more. Karl Baum, Managing Director of F-TEC said, “Since the business started three years ago, we’ve gone from strength to strength. F-TEC now boast a team of 14 who manage the apprentice and commercial training.”

Over the past three years F-TEC has trained in excess of 600 engineers, of all ages and abilities.

September 2019 saw F-TEC not only exhibit and speak at IMHX 2019, but the company also launched two new products.

‘F-TEC Benchmark’, the online assessment tool, is designed as a recruitment and benchmarking tool for the forklift truck (FLT) industry. The confidential online assessment tool is open to employers, engineers, manufacturers and technicians.

Participants are required to answer randomly selected questions covering health and safety and technical topics.

Upon completion, the user will either achieve a Level 2 or Level 3 accredited qualification or receive advice on what further training is required.

“This fantastic new service will provide employers with a recruitment tool to assess the recruit’s technical knowledge at the point of interview.” said Karl.

Successful candidates will then be invited to enrol on the nationally approved Pro-TEC register, their second new product.

‘Pro-TEC’, the professional register of forklift truck (FLT) technicians, is the first of its kind and will be recognised within the industry as a definable skills standard.

“We’re excited to be launching Pro-TEC. It has been created specifically for engineers and technicians working within the forklift truck industry. Pro-TEC will deliver a nationally approved set of standards for forklift technicians that provides consistency across the industry, allowing employers to recruit with confidence and optimise staff development.” said Karl.

2020 will prove hugely exciting for F-TEC. With a 98% industry pass rate, they’ll see more of their Level 2, 3 and 4 apprentices graduate. Not only that, but they’ll be making several announcements which will further their growth trajectory.
