Everyone likes an anniversary and a success story, and no more so than Combilift. During the 21 years since the company was established in Monaghan with just a handful of employees, it has gone on to become one of the fastest growing forklift manufacturers in the world, and the global leader in its specialist field of long load handling solutions.

The product range has grown significantly since the first C-series multidirectional Combilift was launched in 1998, and at least 30 different models are now available, all of which ensure safe, space saving and productive handling and storage. Combilift’s workforce at the global HQ and manufacturing facility now numbers around 650 – an increase of 100 since it was officially opened in May 2018.

But an expanding company also depends on an expanding workforce and as Combilift has doubled in size over the past five years it has needed to ensure that there is a good pool of qualified people available to fill the numerous vacancies that arise on a regular basis. These include roles for skilled technicians, design engineers, logistics and supply chain specialists and those with mechanical and electrical mechatronics skills.

Nurturing and fostering young talent is therefore an important issue as part of Combilift’s commitment to its home region of Monaghan as well as to its customers in over 85 countries. It works closely with local education and training providers and together with the Monaghan Institute it has initiated the Traineeship in Engineering course and also developed the OEM Engineering Apprenticeship.
