WLN – What’s the most interesting place you’ve been to as part of your job?
We were involved in transporting four vehicles to The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for the 2017 Champions League Final. The drivers made the delivery pitch-side three days before the game. The goods were the actual vehicles responsible for transmitting the game to the whole of Italy. If anything had gone wrong, Italy may have not been able to watch the Champions League Final! Luckily it all went as planned.
WLN – What’s the most challenging part of your role?
Planning deliveries around traffic incidents or road closures can be very challenging, especially in London where the congestion of traffic can be quite stressful.
WLN – What are the best ways for drivers to stay healthy and active?
As a driver you are obviously sat down for the majority of the day, so meal planning is an effective way to stay on track with counting calories. The majority of drivers eat on the go and that can make meal planning difficult. It isn’t practical to prepare everything you eat in the vehicle, but stocking healthier snack options that provide energy helps to reduce junk food cravings.
WLN – What’s been your best experience of working in logistics so far?
Starting as a van driver and being promoted to Operations Controller for the courier side of the business.
WLN – Who or what’s the most important thing in your life?
It’s quite cliché but I would have to say my wife and two daughters. They offer me so much inspiration to do the best I can in my career, and they drive me forward to better myself in life.
WLN – What did you want to be when you were younger?
A bin man or a WWF wrestler!
WLN – What makes you happier than anything else?
Family holidays abroad are always something we look forward to. It’s just a chance to relax, enjoy the weather and switch off from the everyday routine.
WLN – What’s your favourite band of all time?
Plan B – The Defamation of Strickland Banks is my most favourite album.
WLN – In your free time, do you prefer indoor or outdoor activities?
Outdoor in fine weather. Definitely indoor when it’s cold!
WLN – What’s your happiest memory?
My wedding day in Italy last year, which I spent with my now wife and our two daughters.
WLN – Finally, what are your top tips for success in this industry?
Do things differently to your competitors. Always work hard. The more you put in, the more you will get out.
