A quick glance at the companies featured in The Warehouse & Logistics News Annual 2019 shows the impressive spread of capabilities on offer. Ranging from multinationals to niche specialists and spanning an array of technologies, each one here is an expert in providing innovative, customer-focused solutions.

Samuel Grant Packaging is best known for inventing the Nano pallet wrapping solution, which won the Queen’s Award for Innovation. The Samson Nano offers pallet wrapping as a service, providing a price-per-wrapped-pallet costing system.

Now settled into their new €50m global headquarters in Monaghan, Ireland, officially opened by the Irish PM, Combilift’s UK sales are growing over 20% annually. Major customers include Eddie Stobart, who have taken delivery of their 100th Aisle Master articulated forklift. Multi-temperature food and drink logistics specialist Culina Logistics’ turnover stands at £600m, more than doubling in three years.

Culina are set for further growth after their joint venture with Warrens Group and purchase of fresh produce logistics specialist Robson’s of Spalding.

UK-based Davis Derby Ltd specialise in the design and manufacture of electronic control and monitoring equipment, software and data management systems. Customers for their marketleading TruckLO forklift management system include Sainsbury’s, GSK, Indesit, Boots and 3M.

The Supply Chain Consulting Group is the result of a successful merger in July 2018 between Gideon Hillman Consulting and Go Supply Chain Consulting, two leading independent logistics and supply chain consultancies. The company have been shortlisted as finalists for four UK Industry awards for their work with Bunzl and BUILT, part of Travis Perkins.

Conveyor specialists KNAPP deliver automated logistics systems to customers here and around the world. Recent major UK projects include one for online and commercial business supplies and solutions brand Staples’ distribution centre in Rockingham, Corby.

Narrow Aisle, the articulated warehouse lift trucks manufacturer, made its name pioneering the development of articulated warehouse trucks. Narrow Aisle is currently enjoying significant success worldwide, especially in North America and the Middle East, with their latest range of Flexi model variants.

Nortek Global HVAC manufactures a wide range of industrial and commercial HVAC products, from gas-fired air heaters to rooftop units. They have a strong presence in the UK, Benelux, France and Germany, with customers in industrial and commercial, manufacturing, warehousing, retail and transportation.

One of Pregis’ biggest recent successes has been establishing their Easypack packaging solution as a quality packaging brand in the US. They have exceeded all targets there, while managing their domestic operations here, launching new products and continuing to deliver first-class service to customers.

Specialist supplier RAM Mounts operate in every industry sector needing mounts for electronic devices. Their biggest customers are in the fleet market, from defence and logistics to emergency services and warehousing. Sales of RAM’s IntelliSkin products and docking units are growing dramatically.

Since the last edition of the Annual, forklift supplier Yale have been very busy, expanding their tow tractor range to offer greater towing capacities, bringing affordable automation to the market with the launch of their Yale robotic solutions, and unveiling their highest capacity truck to date.

Firm believers that in challenging times, businesses must be ready to diversify if they are to thrive, Spaciotempo have significantly expanded their temporary building portfolio, continuing to install large warehouses for industry and logistics but also seeing a marked increase in orders for smaller units.

SSI Schaefer is one of the world’s largest intralogistics solutions providers, delivering warehouse systems varying from static equipment to fully automated services. SSI reports solid progress globally and here in the UK, where adoption of automation grows apace.

] Robotics systems experts Swisslog recently won a contract to deliver their AutoStore solution for the world’s largest online store for designer childrenswear business Childrensalon, accommodating 23,000 AutoStore bins. XPO Logistics has also commissioned Swisslog’s logistics automation for a major partnership with Nestlé.

TEP Technica is a one-stop shop for customers seeking top quality wheels and castors. With the support of market leading manufacturer Räder Vogel, TEP Technica serves customers seeking to develop new products, as well as those looking for direct replacements or alternatives for existing applications.

UniCarriers UK, owned by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, is a well-established materials handling equipment provider with over 50 years’ experience supplying counterbalance and warehouse trucks to the UK market.

Unicarriers has won the “MHE Provider of the Year” award from the UK temperaturecontrolled industry two years running.

And finally, as Britain’s weather becomes more extreme, UK-based loading bay specialists sara LBS’s installations come into their own sheltering warehouse workers from the elements. Recent contracts include supplying the Co-op’s new distribution centre in the Highlands, a flagship project for the retailer in anticipation of opening 18 new stores across Scotland, with more to follow.
