Logistics company Transmec Group is gearing up for further strategic growth with the appointment of a UK sales manager.

The new role sees Phil Thomas, who was previously sales manager at the company’s Redditch depot, take on added responsibility for its Bradford and West Thurrock branches.

Headquartered in Modena, Italy, Transmec Group, has 38 branches worldwide and a turnover of 300 million euros. Its core sectors include automotive, fashion, grocery, technology and furniture.

UK general manager, John Simkins, said: “Phil’s appointment is designed to help us take advantage of significant opportunities brought about by our expanding service offer, a robust UK economy and the current value of the pound.

“Phil has been with Transmec for 12 years and during this time he has helped us build an enviable customer base. He already works closely with our depot sales teams so this was a natural move.”

Transmec’s UK division provides a range of bespoke logistics services in addition to scheduled road transport direct to 11 countries. These include daily weekday groupage services, inbound and outbound, between the UK and branches in Italy, Benelux, France, Germany, Turkey and Romania.

To reduce transit times and enhance security many of Transmec’s trucks are doubled-manned, while the company also offers intermodal options through its own rail service running from Zeebrugge to both Italy and Romania.
