Airbloc, part of Nortek Global HVAC (UK) Ltd, Europe’s leading developer and manufacturer of energy efficient radiant and warm air heating systems, has launched a new common controller for the AC and ACR range of Air Curtains.

The new common controller will replace the current AC Panel and the Smart Elec 3 panel.

This will allow all heat mediums including air curtains fitted with Smart Elec 3 PCB to be controlled using a single common controller.

The intelligent controller automatically detects the type of air curtain it is communicating with and adjusts its user menus to suit. Simple to program and operate, the new common controls platform can control up to 16 air curtains of a single type and the new RJ45 connection gives the user a more stable communications link that can operate up to 150m from the air curtain.

The SmartElec air curtain controller is designed to maintain constant air outlet set temperatures at the required ambient, by monitoring outlet temperature and modulating to compensate for any fluctuations. In other words it will automatically maintain a constant outlet set temperature in response to real conditions.

The contrast with conventionally controlled air curtains is apparent. An air curtain left to run at the same heat all day will have a constant energy consumption rate and may at times over-perform for the internal conditions. With a control panel monitoring its operation, the units heat is turned down, up, or off precisely when required, reducing energy usage to the lowest possible level but with no compromise to the internal environment.

The benefits for end-users are two-fold – energy savings and constant comfort for building occupants, controlling the hungry appetite of air conditioning systems.
