An energetic and friendly college in lush leafy Sussex does not immediately spring to mind or automatically become associated with temporary industrial buildings.

Hurstierpoint College is a thriving, co-educational day and boarding school for pupils from age 4 to 18 years, situated within a 140- acre campus, surrounded by beautiful countryside on the borders of the South Downs National Park, close to the village of Hurstpierpoint in West Sussex.

The vibrant dynamics of the College and the strength of the ‘Hurst culture,’ means that importance is placed on an allround, as well as a core academic education, and offers an extensive sporting programme to promote a healthy, active lifestyle for all pupils.

With Hurst having an enviable record in county, regional and national competitions, and ranking in the top eight in five national competitions across four sports, the college’s sports facilities are a key focal point- and not to be compromised.

However the sports hall had become oversubscribed in bad weather, resulting in cramped facilities. Head of Sport Rob Kift had been wanting a dedicated cardio facility for years and prioritised that as one of the most important items for their annual budget, choosing Aganto through his LinkedIn connection, Aganto national sales manager Ian Mackenzie.

Ian explains: “I was delighted when Rob got in touch. We quickly realised how important this project was; not just in terms of health and safety on the school grounds, but because sports is such an integral part of the college timetable. We wanted to erect an alternative, long standing sports hall facility as quickly and securely as possible so the pupils could train and be active in much better surroundings without the disruption and cost of a traditional building.

He adds: “I advised the college to have a 10m x 20m x 3.2m insulated building which was warm enough and big enough to house both pupils and equipment. The college had the sports structure built in a week and are delighted with the result. This project demonstrates perfectly the adaptability of Aganto temporary buildings, and how they can be used in all sectors in a variety of applications.”
