Leading UK palletised distribution specialist, Palletline, has experienced unprecedented growth in 2014 with the network handling more pallets than ever before.

The member-owned cooperative network, which has more than 6,000 vehicles, 12,000 staff and access to over five million square feet of warehousing space, has primarily driven this success via new member contracts, member growth and increased member volumes.

The company has also made significant strides in increasing capacity by bringing online two new regional hubs and addressing the key industry issue of driver shortage, which has been exacerbated by the recent introduction of the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).

Announced in November, the company’s Drivers Academy aims to train the next generation of skilled HGV drivers, while also attracting those looking to re-train and excel in the thriving palletised distribution industry.

Commenting on the launch of its Drivers Academy, Palletline operations director Iain Brown, said: “As the leading ambassador of workplace training, Palletline sees this as a fantastic way of getting people a great driving career, while also ensuring we have the skilled staff we need moving forwards.”

To further boost driver recruitment and combat skill shortages, on 24th January 2015 Palletline’s Perivale London hub will open its doors to prospective HGV drivers for a dedicated driver recruitment open day.

2014 also saw the company actively seek new network members throughout the UK, particularly in London and the South East, to support its current and future growth.

Not content with improving its member services, tackling skills shortages and expanding its network in 2014, Palletline also continued to push the boundaries of pallet distribution networks.

Responding to current and future industry and customer needs, Palletline established ‘Pallet-Line United Services’, or PLUS Logistics. Harnesses the power of partnership, it offers resource on a grand scale, with a comprehensive menu of contract logistics, warehousing and storage, supply chain solutions, pick and pack, reverse logistics, emergency FSL, click and collect and through-the-night services.

Iain concludes: “The fact we have done all this while initiating service improvements, is a real testament to the hard work of the team and the dedication of our members.”
