A Cornish Scania dealership has taken delivery of a new fixed post lift from SOMERSTOTALKARE in a bid to improve workshop efficiency.

63409Scania Redruth’s Branch Controller, Sam Moustrides, said the new 9m 25,000kg lift would help to free up space in the busy workshop.

“Although we already have a pit and mobile column lifts, three days a week the pit is used as an ATF testing lane,” he explained. “As a result, production and efficiency is reduced in the other parts of our workshop due to lack of work bays.”

To solve the problem, the company has installed the SOMERSTOTALKARE fixed post lift in one of the depot’s three bays, enabling engineers to service, maintain and inspect vehicles quickly and safely with a reliable lifting operation.

Sam, who joined the company eight years ago as a parts assistant is now the Branch Controller on the Scania management trainee program and now focuses on improving efficiency and maximising profit within the branch by improving working procedures, added: “The addition of the Fixed Post Lift allows all bays in the workshop to be productive and fully utilized even when the ATF lane is being used.”

Brian Young, SOMERSTOTALKARE National Accounts Manager, commented: “The fixed post lift solution was ideal for Scania. Its drive on, reverse off, accessibility and 9m platform length has met all the company’s lifting requirements – from coaches through to fuel transporters and tractor units – and it allows them to make full use of all the work bays in the depot.”

“The Fixed Post Lift is the latest addition to the SOMERSTOTALKARE product range that also includes its popular mobile column lifts.

“Our aftersales service packages also enables us to supply a one stop solution for commercial vehicle workshops such as Scania, a nationwide company, through to smaller operations with smaller fleets to maintain.”

With SOMERSTOTALKARE engineers now qualified to service and repair hydraulic lifts from Stertil, the company sees fixed price servicing contracts as a significant driver for future business, alongside the introduction of new and improved products such as the new fixed post lifts.
