Union Industries, the UK market leading manufacturer of rapid roll doors, has completed more installations of its new baby Picadoor high speed door, this time at the world’s leading provider of life saving gas sensing solutions, City Technology.
The Leeds-based fast acting door specialist has installed two small Picadoors to allow for easier and quicker movement of products between the storage and production areas at City Technology’s Portsmouth facility.
The Picadoors work in conjunction with two sets of wooden double doors, which staff previously had to open manually, often causing difficulties when transporting a large volume of products. These wooden doors are now left open, however are used as fire doors when needed.
Established in 1977, City Technology has grown into an international business employing over 400 staff in locations across the UK, Germany, China, Taiwan and the USA. It leads the global market in the design and manufacture of innovative and reliable gas sensors for use in personal and fixed safety systems.
Although Union is continually upgrading its existing range of robust internal and external doors by incorporating the latest technological advances, the Picadoor is the first brand new door launched by Union since its Eiger freezer door over a decade ago.
The Picadoor has a maximum opening size of 2.0m wide x 2.5m high, making it ideal for smaller internal applications such as pallet truck openings, over conveyors, or even for regularly used pedestrian doorways. It opens at approximately 1.5m per second, with automatic close after an appropriate dwell time that can be adjusted to suit individual application requirements. Made from high quality, lightweight extruded aluminium, the frame surround of the doors can be powder coated to various colour options and can, if required, match the colour of the fabric door blade.
