The new alliance will commence this September and represents a significant step for both businesses – offering Pallet-Track access to a mature multi-modal European footprint across 56 countries and providing Hellmann with significant competitive inroads into the UK pallet network market.

Pallet-Track, one of the leading pallet delivery networks in the UK, had always agreed to enter the European market, but only when the timing and the partnership were right, and that time is now, according to founder and managing director Nigel Parkes.

“This is a massive step for us and the timing is perfect – we are expanding rapidly in the UK and enjoyed a record volume month in March,” said Mr Parkes. “Hellmann is a multi-billion Euro family – owned business that is in the top 30 largest freight companies in Europe. It works with some of the biggest international household brands in almost 60 countries and has the scope and the vision to work with us across those European markets that we want to reach. In return, we can offer Hellmann a strong network, the right technology and  access to the key UK markets it wants to reach,” he said.

The new partnership will enable Hellmann to service three additional London postcodes and will generate approximately 25,000 deliveries per annum within the Hellmann global network.

Matthew Marriott, commercial director of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK, said: “The new partnership with Pallet-Track provides an exciting opportunity for Hellmann to really capitalise on its growing global network. After a positive start to the year, and the continued success of our Colnbrook distribution depot, we’re confident that the relationship with Pallet-Track will only enhance our service levels. A lot of research was carried out and we made the decision that the partnership was perfectly suited to Hellmann.”

Mark Pulford, a Pallet-Track director, who was a key player in bringing the deal to the table, added: “It will significantly increase our volumes from month one by 10 per cent overnight, give us multi-modal access to the key markets of Europe, and give Hellmann the UK reach it requires. We have been negotiating for a number of months but it was clear early on that there is a synergy between our two businesses in terms of technology, ethos and family atmosphere.”
