Sovex have used their experience and expertise gained in the UK to create a centre of excellence and dedicated factory manufacturing vehicle loaders.

There are currently 40 people employed in the factory, which is expected to rise to 50 by mid 2014.  Sovex previously manufactured conveyors under licence in Asia but recognised the need to open their own facility to step up supply to meet the increased demand for their vehicle loaders and unloaders.

The company, which specialises in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of conveyor systems to clients such as DHL, DPD, Hermes, UK Mail and Yodel has undergone phenomenal growth in the last two years.

The new facility will also allow Sovex to manage their own supply chain and offer shorter lead times to customers. Having a base in Malaysia will also help Sovex to tap into the Asia Pacific market and they are already speaking to some organisations in that part of the world. A sales office has also been opened in China headed up by Steve King, newly appointed Sales Director Asia Pacific.

Malcolm Dooley, Managing Director of Sovex Malaysia has been responsible for identifying the premises in Malaysia and sourcing the necessary machinery and labour. Malcolm said “It’s an exciting time for Sovex, the first vehicle loaders came off the production line mid last year and have since been installed in 21 depots across Germany.”

Sovex, which specialises in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of conveyor systems, currently employs over 130 staff including electrical engineers, welders, fitters and fabricators at its headquarters in Prenton, Wirral, including over 30 service engineers based around Britain.

Sovex’s core business is the vehicle loading range for which it is famous. Its telescopic boom conveyor extends into vehicles, sea containers, transit vans and everything in between – and drastically reduces the time and manpower required to load and unload products.

In addition to these boom conveyors Sovex also offers full conveyor systems to assist with sorting and transporting the produce from these vehicles.

Their conveyor system customers include CD suppliers, tyre manufacturers and shoe importers.
