Pall-Ex, the European palletised freight network, has donated £20,000 to Carers Trust.
The money was raised through the company’s ‘Penny-a-Pallet’ scheme, which was devised by Pall-Ex CEO and television-entrepreneur, Hilary Devey. The initiative has been running since 1996 and involves one penny being donated to the charity for every pallet delivered through the Pall-Ex network.
The cheque was personally delivered to the President of Carers Trust, HRH The Princess Royal by Pall-Ex marketing director, Jean-Paul Benizri. Jean-Paul was representing Hilary at the Carers Trust Fundraising evening at Claridges Hotel in London.
The evening raised a total of £145,000 and saw 200 guests enjoy an exquisite three-course dinner prepared by award-winning executive chef, Martyn Neil, entertainment from Michael Ball and a charity auction hosted by Lord Jeffery Archer.
“Carers Trust carries out vital work across the UK and it is a privilege to be in a position where we can donate such a large amount of money,” commented Hilary, who is Vice-President of Carers Trust.
“The ‘Penny-a-Pallet’ scheme works extremely well as it grows in line with the business, allowing us to increase our donation, year on year. Since launching the initiative, we have raised over £150,000 for Carers Trust. This is a testament to the growth of the Pall-Ex network and the ever-increasing number of pallets successfully delivered across the UK and mainland Europe.”
Alison Houghton, senior fundraising manager, Carers Trust added: “This donation from Pall-Ex is vital in helping us to continue providing support to unpaid carers across the UK. We are extremely grateful to the whole team.”
