Commenting on the award wins, Mike Varnom, Managing Director of Unipart Logistics’ Aftermarket Division, said: “To receive three of supply chain’s most prestigious awards in one week is a remarkable achievement, one which makes me proud of the dedication, experience and sheer excellence of the Unipart teams that serve the automotive aftermarket, both in the UK and globally.”

At the European Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2013 the ‘Overall Winner’ Award was presented to Unipart Logistics for their management of the global aftermarket support operation responsible for 1.2 million Jaguar cars around the world. The ‘Overall Winner’ trophy was presented for the best supply chain across all industrial categories and was won in competition with some of the world’s largest and best known brands – a shortlist of 89 organisations.

After stepping up to receive Europe’s most prestigious Award in supply chainmanagement, Mike Varnom said: “We are delighted that our continued efforts to achieve excellence in the support of world leading products have been recognised by the judges of Europe’s most notable Awards in logistics and supply chain management. This is a proud moment for Unipart Logistics.”

At the core of the aftermarket operation is the Global Control Centre created by Unipart Logistics. By integrating supply chain functions, the Global Control Centre ensures total alignment of processes and encourages collaboration between supply chain partners. The dashboards present supply chain information in a standardised view and allow all data to be interrogated down to part number level. The impact on customer service has been significant with availability consistently above 98%.

Receiving the third trophy in a week at the Automotive Supply Chain Global Awards, Mike Varnom said: “I’m delighted and honoured to receive this award on behalf of the Unipart team in recognition of the work we do managing end-to-end supply chains on a global basis. We are very fortunate to be working with some fantastic customers, particularly Jaguar Land Rover globally, but also Mobis Parts Europe UK (Hyundai and Kia), Qoros in China, Tata and Toyota in India.

Automotive-Areospace-and-Defense“But we couldn’t have achieved this without fantastic people. We have 2,000 plus people working on our global aftermarket business, all seeking to continuously improve what they do for their customers. So this award is all down to those 2,000 plus people.”
