On stand F15 at this year’s TCS&D show, Hörmann (UK) Ltd and ISD Solutions have combined efforts to showcase the synergy between the two market leading companies.

DPU-and-Insulated-Floor-PanelDoors and loading bays are critical elements of any cold storage facility and by working together the two companies are offering more complete solutions. Pioneering work by ISD on the development of single envelope cold store designs has provided new options for ambient operations too. A critical element of this design is the energy efficiency that has to be achieved in the loading bay and door areas. Here the collaboration of the two companies has created  solutions for many warehouse developers, whose tenants now include The Co-operative Group and Waitrose amongst many others.

One of the earliest examples of the improvements achieved by pooling knowledge and resources was the design for insulated loading bays originally fitted at James Hall and Company’s Spar distribution centre in Preston, which has now become an accepted industry standard.

In the first instance, dock levellers with telescopic lips were installed, so that the double insulated Hörmann DPU doors would close in front to prevent the steel leveller acting as a thermal bridge. ISD insulated the dock leveller pits prior to installation and ensured that the doors closed onto the insulated plates that form the base of the dock leveller pit. For this specific site ISD also installed a proprietary heating system within the floor finish, along with a fully detailed movement joint to allow for contraction and expansion.

The display at the show will only give a glimpse of the options that can increase efficiency and reduce costs but experts are on hand to advise how Hörmann and ISD can add value to your specific operation.
