AKW Group, based at Trafford Park, is looking to recruit more women to join its current drivers Steph Butler, Alison Carr and Kelly Ratican who collectively have over 14 years’ experience with the company.

“AKW Group is very fortunate to have a skilled team of drivers.  Alison, Kelly and Steph are a really important part in this team helping to deliver a quality service to our customers,” said Jason Bradley, Operations Manager of AKW Group.

“Our company aims to encourage ambitious and motivated people and I hope their success will encourage other women to pursue a career in the logistics industry.”

“The best part of the job is that no two days are the same, every day brings new challenges and you get to meet new people and see new things all the time,” said Alison Carr, who makes deliveries as far and wide as Glasgow and London.

“Some people still think lorry driving isn’t a job for women but I think all three of us have proven we can do the job just as well as the men and we’ve always felt like we’re a respected and valued part of the team at AKW Group.”

All three women would like to progress their careers and train to become Class 1 drivers, enabling them to drive the largest vehicles.

AKW Group is currently recruiting professional, qualified, Class one and two drivers.   To find out more call 0161 873 7355 or email sales@akw.co.uk.
