Victory Lighting’s Heating Solutions Division have come up with some clever ideas on how to make major savings in heating costs and also help the environment. By directing heat to where it is wanted, that is the people working there, we can demonstrate considerable energy saving, and because gas is not being used there is no Co2 being created. Great for the environment.

Each heating scheme is carefully tailor made to suit the actual operation of the warehouse, but we have flexibility, to relocate heaters easily when working patterns change. At a recent installation Managing Director Dominic Bacon of RIF logistics said “This is an excellent way of maintaining a good warm working environment for the staff, whilst be able to cut down on the use of the gas warm air system . Saving money on heating bills.”

The use of shortwave quartz heating uses the principles of lighting technology to produce a most efficient heating solution. The tungsten filament reaches a temperature of 2000 C within less than a second, so the heating effect is immense. The use of halogen gas keeps the lamp clear and life can be  more than 20,000 hours or 10 years of normal usage. There is no use of heavy metals such as mercury and there is no ultra violet emissions. When the lamp does need replacing, the lamp simply clips out and an inexpensive lamp replacement can be fitted very easily. There are no other parts to wear, no valves, filters, flame failure devices that need servicing and regular inspection. The other big advantage is that heat is directed where it is required and when it is required. Instant on/off means there is no wasted energy. The use of timers  and PIR sensors (also supplied by Victory) mean that the energy used is only when it is required. Victory’s Product Sales Manager Heating, Ben Lambert said ‘If the warehouse let us know total heating bills, we will offer a tailor made solution for them to consider at no obligation.’ So we at Victory think now is the time to take advantage of this new technology and keep key staff comfortable without it  costing the earth.
