Union Industries, the market leading manufacturer of industrial high speed doors, is supporting the environmental commitments of Leeds-based Greyhound Box & Packaging Ltd.
Union, which is also based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, has installed one of its ultra-reliable Bulldoors at Greyhound to ensure the company meets the ISO 14001 standard, which is awarded to businesses that can demonstrate their limited impact on the environment.
The rapid action of Union’s roller door, which has an opening speed of 1.6metres per second with automatic close, minimises the ingress of exterior environmental conditions on the building, which supports stricter temperature control and sanitation.
Greyhound Box & Packaging has been established for more than 20 years and provides a comprehensive managed packaging program including packing and packaging design, manufacturing and consultancy and customers waste management.
Union, which designs, manufacturers, installs and maintains its range of high quality fast acting doors, delivered a bespoke service to Greyhound to maximise the space within its distribution area. A steel lath security shutter door has been integrated with the design of the Bulldoor in order to reduce the amount of space taken in the warehouse by lifting the security shutter door higher than normal to install Union’s rapid roll door under its endplates.
Utilised by FLT and pedestrian traffic, the 4.2m high Bulldoor is operated by induction loops and push button controls.
In common with the other doors in the range, the door also features Union’s highly-regarded ‘Crash-Out’ damage protection facility, which ensures that the door remains operable if the heavy duty steel composite bottom beam is hit by a speeding vehicle. This proven system, which has been a central attribute of Union’s doors for over 20 years, drastically reduces repair costs and guarantees minimal down-time if the door is impacted by traffic such as forklift trucks.
