Navman Wireless, the UK’s most chosen vehicle-tracking specialist, today introduced a new and improved highly adaptable driver behaviour and vehicle performance monitoring solution.

The new Smart Telematics system, which is powered by Navman’s market leading vehicle-tracking platform OnlineAVL, has been designed to provide fleet managers with critical real time data about vehicle and driver behaviour and will enable businesses to make informed decisions that can help reduce fuel consumption, extend equipment life, cut carbon emissions and improve driver safety.

The system also has the unique benefit of complete vehicle adaptability. Navman say it can be installed on HGV, LGV, vans and cars and works by taking live data from the engine, analysing it and sending it to fleet managers in an easy to understand ‘user friendly’ format.

Steve Blackburn, European Vice President, Navman Wireless said: “We are committed to advancing technology to make data more valuable and relevant. Smart Telematics has been designed to ensure data can be easily integrated into daily business life, the key to which is presenting it in a useable format.”

“Many fleet managers are using telematics to carefully monitor the driving habits of their drivers, but unless data is truly dynamic, clearly presented and immediately useful, it may not be easy to see where improvements can be made. An effective telematics platform means you don’t have to read through pages of information to see the benefits.”

Users of Smart Telematics can also choose to include an intelligent head up training aid, the PPO-200 (Personal performance Optimiser). This device continually learns vehicle and driver habits and delivers feedback based on the knowledge it has gained. Feedback is based on 6 KPI’s – high RPM, unsteady drive, unnecessary engine power, harsh acceleration, road anticipation and ECO drive.
