Logistics specialists, the Widdowson Group has won additional business with global office supplies and solutions provider, Office Depot. The new business includes further overnight trunking work and container services in the UK.
Initially, Widdowson won two overnight trunking exercises for Office Depot. Now, Office Depot has chosen to extend its contract by awarding the company a further two overnight operations – transporting office supplies between Leicester and Ashton-under-Lyne and Leicester to Andover.
Freddie Watts, the Fleet and Transport Contracts Manager for Office Depot in the UK states, “Widdowson has received the extra trunking business with us because they are competitive and they’ve already demonstrated their ability to deliver the service we want which enables us to meet our customers’ needs.”
In addition to this, Widdowson now provides container services to Office Depot. This involves unloading containers from the Far East, breaking the content down into palletable deliveries and then transporting them to Office Depot distribution centres in Ashton, Leicester and Ireland.

This, despite the fact that they were thrown in at the deep end with a high volume of containers and challenging market conditions. “We chose Widdowson for this container work for three main reasons; they are local, the customer service is brilliant and they have provided us with a significant saving.”
