High-speed passenger train operator, Eurostar, is the latest Linde Material Handling (UK) customer to select and purchase the award-winning* new CiTi truck to handle delivery of palletised goods to its trains at London’s St Pancras station.
Dave Bridges, Eurostar Despatch Manager explains: “We were looking for a product that would not only make light work of handling and delivering our on board magazine from the loading bay to the train but also one safe enough for use in a busy pedestrianised environment. In addition to the CiTi truck’s light weight, easy operation and safety parking brake, its easy charge battery makes it extremely safe for use around the general public as well as a grease-free way to move pallets of our in-service customer magazine on and off board.”
An innovative solution for the final stages of delivery and movement of goods across demanding terrain such as cobbles, manhole covers and slopes, CiTi truck is compact, light weight and ideally suited to being stowed in-vehicles prior to use. It is as light as any hand pallet truck but offers the additional benefits of a traction motor, three-layer drive wheels with the ability to negotiate obstacles up to 70mm and an electromagnetic disc parking brake for maximum operator safety and control in urban traffic. While the two-way system for lifting and lowering traction saves time and effort when compared to the traditional hand pallet truck. The CiTi truck has also been given the PIEK Certificate for Quiet Delivery – critical for out of hours deliveries in built up urban and residential areas.
Its maximum load capacity of 500kg makes CiTi truck perfect for urban deliveries to retail outlets, restaurants, bakeries, tool hire and construction locations as well as office and home deliveries, DIY and garden centres and for the pharmacy trade. The truck’s ‘plug and play’ energy pack provides a laptop-sized charger with a choice of three 36v nickel-metal hydride battery. And with a team of over 1000 qualified Linde engineers throughout Linde’s national network of 23 service centres, the CiTi truck service can be completed on location or at a Linde centre to best fit around the customer’s needs.
Eurostar will be taking delivery of its Linde MH CiTi truck on 12th September 2011. Customers wishing to demo the truck can add their name to the list at www.cititruck-demolist.co.uk
* CiTi truck was awarded the Forklift Truck Association Award for Excellence in product innovation 2011.
