Already renowned as an innovator in order-picking ergonomics, warehouse solutions provider KNAPP has launched a series of application-specific, user-friendly workstations.

The new workstations are the result of KNAPP’s KiDesign programme, aimed at elevating the profile of ergodynamics and multi-functionality in goods-to-person picking solutions. Unveiled for the first time at CeMAT earlier this year, the group’s brand-new range of ‘Pick-it-Easy’ workstations are designed to meet the needs of three specific and major sectors: e-commerce, grocery and fashion.

Explains Craig Rollason, Head of Sales and Marketing for KNAPP UK Ltd, “The Pick-it-Easy range recognises that ergonomics is not a case of one-size-fits-all and that different applications have different requirements. These workstations have been created in close co-operation with both the renowned Institute for Occupational Health of TÜV Rheinland and the Occupational Health Centre in Graz, Austria.” Now featured in KNAPP’s OSR Shuttle™ goods-to-person picking systems, the workstations – were each designed using full-scale models in order to optimise the individual order-picking tasks within the various applications.

The new workstations feature pick-to-light and put-to-light technology. A touch screen at the centre of the workstation allows the operator to keep his or her head straight and avoid neck strain, with every process being identified at a single glance and noise also controlled. The TÜV- and CE-certified Pick-it-Easy workstations allow error-free preparation of up to 1000 orders per man-hour.

Pick-it-Easy Shop

Designed to meet the needs of the e-commerce sector, Pick-it-Easy Shop is suitable for goods that are placed into order containers or cartons of different heights. These containers, despite their varying heights, are supplied at the optimal ergonomic height for picking staff. The solution is suited to many types of e-commerce goods, including food and beverages.

Pick-it-Easy Tray

The traditional method of manual picking in food wholesale – where products are picked from source pallets at floor level and placed into roll containers or onto pallets – places significant physical strain on staff. The Pick-it-Easy Tray workstation is designed to minimise strenuous tasks such as lifting, carrying or bending by supplying trays at an ergonomic height for operators through semi-automatic height adjustment of both source and target objects. Pick-it-Easy Tray is designed for picking both single items and large pack units. Software provides visual support for the picking process and picking of 650 large pack units per hour for typical grocery products can easily be realised.

Pick-it-Easy Pack

Pick-it-Easy Pack unites KNAPP’s highly ergonomic packing station design with technologies for hanging garments and flat-pack fashions. Pick-it-Easy Pack facilitates consolidation of partial orders, automatic disposal of empty hangers and containers and visual guidance/RFID for sequenced supply. Packing materials of various sizes and literature for ad campaigns are all within reach and carton disposal is also integrated in the station. The result is optimal working conditions for packing staff.
