Varlink the York-based specialist distributor of mobile computing and associated barcode products is delighted to announce its recent appointment as specialist distributor of Brother mobile solutions products.

Aimed at field workers and professionals who need to print on-the-move, Brother’s range of mobile print products includes its new PocketJet range, the company’s first range of mobile A4 printers. Varlink will work directly with Brother to launch the new range.

The PocketJet 600 range will provide sales opportunities for resellers across a variety of sectors and industries from field sales teams who need to print order confirmations for their customers, right through to professional services consultants, such as architects, who can produce updated plans whilst ‘on site’. Brother’s PocketJet 600 range is also designed to be utilised by the emergency services – with in-vehicle mounted printing which is ideal for police officers, fire-fighters and paramedics.

Varlink has gained over 5 years experience in supporting specialist mobile computing solution resellers and system integrators who want to develop or build a position in the supply of mobile computing and data capture solutions. Varlink is also working with application software developers who are writing bespoke systems to be deployed onto an outstanding range of industrial handhelds and ultra rugged PDAs and also requiring a mobile printer as part of their data capture solution.

Sabine Kelly, Marketing Manager for Varlink, comments: “Resellers, particularly those who are already experts at selling this type of equipment, can work directly with us to increase their offering to this market. With our strong experience in mobile print solutions, we have through our reseller partners, built a large installed base of end users throughout the UK including many NHS sites, PCTs, local and county councils, utilities and other commercial companies across most vertical markets. We’re looking forward to working with and supporting resellers in this growing market.”

The launch of PocketJet 600 follows Brother’s acquisition of the mobile printer business from PENTAX, which allowed its own manufacturers to further develop the specialist thermal print technology and create an upgraded version of the popular PJ500s. The four new models offer faster print speeds, longer battery-life and improved features, including sharper print quality. The flagship model, the PJ-663, has already won a prestigious iF Product Design Award 2011 by the International Forum Design.

The PocketJet 600 family of printers offers a lightweight and compact solution that is easy to carry, use in a small work area or mount in a vehicle, with each printer weighing a maximum of 473g (excluding battery and paper) and measuring just under 26cm in length.

New features include print speeds of up to 6ppm, optional Li-ion battery for increased yield of up to 300 pages per charge, Bluetooth Imaging Protocol support for downloading and printing JPEG files, template storage capabilities and design software to create and download document templates.

Brother PocketJet printers can connect to devices such as laptops, tablets, PDAs and Smartphones, with a variety of connectivity options, including USB, IrDA and Bluetooth.
