IPP Logipal, the leading one-way trip pallet pool specialist, has appointed Carl McInerney to the role of UK and Ireland commercial director.

Carl brings with him a wealth of experience working in the supply chain with FMCG producers as well as retailers, and in the grocery, wholesale and licensed markets. Over 25 years he has established a proven track record, which includes logistics planning and management.

This includes working in highly competitive and mature markets with brands such as Coca Cola, Carling and Bass Brewers (now Coors) to drive forward supply chain efficiencies and operational improvements.

Prior to transferring to The Coca-Cola Company, where he handled organisational change projects, Carl spent 10 years at Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE). During his time at CCE he headed up customer logistics, introducing collaborative partnerships and pioneering initiatives with retailers, and also marketing operations, being responsible for the companies new product launches and promotions.

He joins IPP Logipal from Peters Bookselling Service, the largest UK wholesaler of children’s books to schools and libraries, where he was managing director for the last two years. In his new role at IPP Logipal Carl will be responsible for sales, marketing, business development and the customer services team.

Carl commented: “In just six years IPP Logipal has built a solid platform in the UK and Ireland, increasing its market share year-on-year in a wide range of industry sectors. The company has experience of creating real collaborative relationships with its customers and I’m keen to extend and innovate our offer, by continuing to release further value across the shared supply chain.

“In addition we will look to innovate with new products, new services and new thinking as we develop long-term customer relationships into lasting partnerships.”

Meanwhile, Phil Storer, who was previously director of the UK business, has become European commercial director on the board of IPP Logipal in Europe and will be responsible for the group’s overall commercial activities.

Phil said of the new appointments: “The changes further strengthen IPP Logipal in the UK and Europe as we continue to expand our service in key markets. I believe that Carl will prove to be a great addition to the team and has a wealth of industry knowledge to draw upon that will support our customers.”

IPP Logipal is part of the Faber Halbertsma Group, which has a turnover of £200 million. The UK&I operation was established in 2005 and the company specialises in providing a high quality pallet service to the FMCG (fast moving consumer goods), retail and electronic sectors.
