Product damage and loss incurred during transportation could now be reduced with the introduction of the TempMark™8.

TempMark™8 is Lamerholm’s latest addition to the ShockWatch range of environmental indicators and provides an insight into the temperature conditions of a journey by recording up to eight conditions of temperature during transportation and storage.

During transit, goods can often be exposed to unacceptable temperatures for long periods of time. The TempMark™8, the first device of its kind to go on the market, allows organisations to determine whether the duration of exposure was long enough to compromise safety and desired characteristics during shipment or storage. It can also be used by recipients to monitor incoming shipments of raw materials or ingredients to ensure they are safe to use.

The TempMark™8 not only ensures the quality of the product is maintained at all stages of delivery but also acts as a visual deterrent to improper handling.

The small, single-use device has an adhesive back cover for easy fixing onto shipments and is activated by snapping the green corner tab. The current temperature will then be displayed for three seconds. The review button allows the user to cycle through alarm level, number of times the predetermined limit was exceeded, consecutive samples over the limit and cumulative samples over the limit. The eight alarm triggers combine three descending (-1C, 0C and 2C) and five ascending (8C, 10C, 15C, 20C and 25C).

The device has a battery life of 90 days but then switches into low-battery mode in order to retain the data until the battery is completely depleted.

Lamerholm Electronics is a world leader in the design and manufacture of damage deterrent equipment and forms part of the IMC Group.

IMC Group Sales Director Derek Richardson said: “The TempMark™8 is a highly cost-effective way of delivering customer satisfaction by ensuring that products are kept in acceptable temperatures and are handled in a suitable manner during transportation.

“There is no way of knowing what happens to products once they are despatched from the manufacturer, however the TempMark™8 aims to reduce the damage that temperature change and handling can often cause.”

Key features of the TempMark™8:
