WaverleyTBS has invested in a high-tech computerised delivery planning and routing solution from Paragon Software Systems. The Multi Depot software will enhance customer service by optimising daily deliveries and fleet use. This will help it retain its competitiveness in the market place as “national drinks supplier” and “national wine supplier” to pubs, clubs, restaurants and hotels throughout the UK.
“Our customers need reliable, consistent service at all times and the Paragon Multi Depot software will help us meet their expectations. It will improve our flexibility and ability to adhere to delivery time windows,” says Keith Marley, Logistics Development Manager, WaverleyTBS. “The businesses we serve have varying demands for our products and so each customer delivery profile is different. No one customer is the same and we have to be sure to deliver precisely what they need and on time.”
The company supplies a wide range of products – cask beers, beers of the world, spirits, a huge selection of wines and soft drinks. It makes an average of 2,000 deliveries a day over 130 routes. The company’s five planning regions cover the entire UK, with a dedicated planner for each region using the Paragon software to produce effective, fuel and resource efficient routes and schedules.
“We capture orders up to 2pm each day for next day delivery and we use the software to calculate the best way to make each delivery – route, vehicle and load. It will help us to make best use of our fleet, enabling us to reduce the number of vehicles we use. In addition, we want to reduce the number of routes, our fuel consumption and road miles, which will also lower our emission levels,” says Keith Marley.
The WaverleyTBS supply chain includes two regional distribution centres, six depots and nine transit points. The company previously used a mix of manual and computerised delivery routing and planning systems across each region before standardising on Paragon Multi Depot.
