What’s the most exciting thing about your job?

The global nature of Citizen’s business allows me to do a lot of travelling, so I get to see many interesting places when visiting customers around the world. It’s great to learn about business cultures from different perspectives and to witness some of the absurdities of everyday local life.

If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?

Today I’d be a portable printer, such as our CMP-30 – fast, tough and well built! Ask me next week and I’ll be our high performance CL-S631 printer…

What brought you to this industry?

It started as a temporary job for Citizen 21 years ago. They were such a great company to work for that I’ve never looked back.

If you had to do it all over again, what would you do different?

Nothing, no regrets.

What’s your favourite pastime?

Oily hands! I’ve a passion for tinkering with and driving fast cars.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can name the brand of a label printer at 1,000 paces just by its sound.

Who would be your favourite party guest?

Stephen Hawking.

What is the greatest luxury in your life?

Good health.

If you won the Lottery, what would you do?

I’d finish my pilot’s licence and buy a plane. Probably something fast and fun!

Who or what makes you laugh?

“Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!” – You can always go back to Monty Python and get a guaranteed laugh.

Do you have any secret ambitions?

Now that would be telling: it wouldn’t be a secret if I told you.

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

The next one.

What’s your favourite music album?

Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon. Growing up as child in the 1970s it was almost a constant soundtrack to my life as many of the BBC’s children’s TV shows used tracks from the record.

What’s your favourite movie?

There’s so many to choose from but I would say Life of Brian or Blade Runner.

Who or what do you detest the most?

Indecision and middle lane hogs, which are essentially the same thing.

What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?

Veni, vidi, vici – I came, I saw, I conquered – you can too.
