Visitors to IMHX can learn how easy it is to reduce the environmental impact of their materials handling fleet by visiting the Calor stand (Hall 18, Stand 18M130). Calor, the UK’s leading supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), will demonstrate how LPG fuelled forklift trucks can achieve high performance whilst being environmentally considerate.
On the topic of ‘high performance’, two of the stars of the prestigious British Touring Car Championships – Team Aon’s Tom Chilton, who won the independent, and teammate Tom Onslow Cole – will be on the stand to explain how Calor LPG gave them a ‘clean’ edge over the competition. You will also be able to meet the two Toms with their Ford Focus racing car, in the atrium.

Calor LPG is a cleaner burning fuel boasting the lowest carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions compared to diesel and electric1 and produces 98 per cent fewer particulates compared to diesel2. It is both lead and soot free and when forklift trucks are fitted with a three way catalyst carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons are reduced to virtually zero3.
A visual indication of Calor LPG’s environmental benefits was demonstrated during recent independent tests at Millbrook Proving Ground where LPG vehicles were tested against diesel for emissions. White pads were placed over a 2.5 tonne LPG engine forklift truck exhaust pipe with the truck in operation before the same test was replicated using a 2.5 tonne diesel engine forklift truck for the same length of time. The results were conclusive with the LPG truck leaving hardly any deposits compared to the black exhaust mark on the diesel samples. Furthermore, Calor LPG powered forklifts are up to 10 decibels (dB(A)) quieter than a diesel forklift 4 which not only benefits operators who are exposed to forklifts on a daily basis but can also help keep noise to a minimum in residential areas, particularly when companies need to operate their forklift trucks during the night.
