It’s official – Expect Distribution is probably the biggest inputter into any pallet network in the country!
The company has just despatched its millionth pallet safely on a journey from Expect’s Bradford base via the Palletline network on behalf of Mobili Office Ltd in Skipton, one of the country’s leading manufacturers of quality design orientated workplace solutions.
Expect Distribution was a founder member of the Palletline network – one of just 19 companies who, almost 20 years ago, pioneered the UK distribution industry’s now thriving pallet network sector. Since then, many have followed in their footsteps, but Palletline continues to lead the way in terms of volume, performance and innovation.
Robert Rushworth, Managing Director of Expect Distribution, was in on the very first shipment, although he does stress he wasn’t driving! “It was a leap of faith, two decades ago,” he admits. “For competing independents to cooperate to form a groundbreaking national network seemed a shot in the dark, but we’ve never looked back. That first night, we shipped a total of 51 pallets between us – today, more than 60 companies make up the Palletline network, and we regularly ship over 10,000 pallets in any one 24 hour time window.”
He also readily acknowledges the role Palletline has played in the growth and continued success of his own organisation. “When we set up Palletline, we ran just a handful of vehicles, primarily on local runs. Today we operate from a new £9M logistics centre, run a fleet of over 60 vehicles and provide our customers with a nationwide service, backed up by levels of technology that exceed some of the country’s leading 3PL offerings in terms of innovation and sophistication.”
Kevin Buchanan, Managing Director of Palletline, paid tribute to Expect’s commitment to the network. “Over the years, Expect Distribution has played a vital role as one of our top performing member companies,” he confirmed. “The whole network recognises their drive and dedication.”
