peelports-imageBriggs Equipment UK Ltd, a leading national independent service provider and materials handling equipment specialist, has today announced a proposal to start a new working partnership with Peel Ports, Port of Liverpool for the engineering maintenance of its operational plant and equipment.

Having undertaken a thorough review of the port-side services, Peel Ports viewed Briggs Equipment UK as an organisation who reflected its own long term growth strategy and one it felt would help support the on-going improvements to operational efficiencies and service offering to its operations team.

The proposed scope of work is wide and varied, covering the maintenance requirements for a multi-million pound asset base, spanning some 1200 acres. Examples of the equipment within the proposed contract are ship-to-shore container cranes, quayside cranes, straddle carriers, harbour mobile cranes and various other mobile equipment supporting the Ports Operations. Due to the operational demands of the Port environment the focus of is to maximise equipment uptime and predictive / preventative maintenance programs. The target for the Port of Liverpool is to have equipment availability, when required by operations, at greater than 98% coupled with Statutory and Planned Preventative Maintenance programs ensuring a proactive approach which delivers high levels of equipment availability.

The vision of both parties is to enhance the engineering maintenance function which operates to a world class standard utilising highly skilled engineers, modern work methods and optimised tooling and diagnostics, all encompassed within a continuous improvement framework.
