twinings_of_london_logoTwinings – the expert tea blender, selects Belgravium to implement real time mobile computing solution into their newly developed site in Swarzedz-Jasin, Poland.

A History of Tea…

Back in the seventeenth century, the most popular drinks in England were coffee, gin and ale. Tea had been drunk in China for thousands of years, but it had only just been imported to England, and lots of people were suspicious of it. Twinings was established over 300 years ago in 1706, when Thomas Twining first started selling tea from his coffee house on London’s Strand. promising only to sell the finest qualities and varieties his pledge soon won him (and his tea) lots of fans – including Jane Austen and Charles II. By the 1750s, tea was the most popular drink among the working classes.

European Expansion – Providing a Solid Platform for Growth

Ten generations later and with over 100 varieties, Twinings teas continue to be drunk all over the world. The growth of Twinings has recently resulted into the expansion of their operations into Europe. The new site in Swarzedz-Jasin, Poland will operate to the same exacting standards as their two other existing sites in Andover and North Shields. As Twinings expands, so do the solutions that have been put in place to support this growth. The ability to run an efficient and effectively run operation has been critical in supporting the continuing growth and expansion of Twinings’ existing operations.

A Perfect Solution Every Time…

Recognising that they must consistently provide high quality products to make “the perfect cup every time,” Twinings are committed to the investment of quality systems and continuing improvement within all their manufacturing sites. To facilitate a fully RF operational warehouse in their new site, Twinings made the decision to implement the same solutions they have in place in their UK sites. Leading mobile computing solution providers Belgravium were selected to implement a real time mobile computing solution into their Polish site, a solution that has already secured numerous benefits for Twinings in the UK. Enabling real-time management and control of the whole of their operation, the solution will be implemented across the whole of Twinings’ warehouse operations to include goods receipt, putaway, picking and dispatch. Utilising the “Rugged by Design” Atlanta 8000 series handheld and Monaco 7100 Truck Mounted terminal will secure numerous productivity and accuracy benefits, in addition to real time visibility and control of their operations.

Working hand in hand, Belgravium will also provide the expertise, training and support for the expansion of system, which will help Twinings continue to support the growth of their operations into Europe and beyond.
