crown-esr5000_warehouseCrown’s ESR 5000 reach truck series has won the IDEA Gold Award 2010 in the ‘Commercial and Industrial Equipment’ category, making Crown the winner of this coveted design award for the fifth year in a row.

The International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) competition is organised by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the world’s largest membership-driven society for design and industrial design. Every year since 1980 the IDEA jury has honoured international designers and entrepreneurs whose products stand out by virtue of design excellence and innovative thinking. Various criteria are used to judge entries, such as innovation, benefit to the user, benefit to society and natural ecology, and sustainability.

Jim Kraimer, Director Industrial Design Europe at Crown, is delighted by the award: “When judging these awards, the IDEA panel is particularly concerned that the prize-winning products should meet the highest standards of performance, user-friendliness, safety and ergonomics. For us, winning the Gold award goes to prove that our products belong up there with the very best in the world when judged against these rigorous design criteria.”

The user-friendly design of the ESR 5000 Series has already earned Crown another top-ranking prize: in spring 2010 the reach truck series took the prestigious iF Gold Award.
