Logistex, the leading automated logistics systems 4th party integrator, has been selected by FloraHolland to develop, install and implement an innovative handling concept for its Aalsmeer, Netherlands, warehouse and distribution centre. The new system will play a vital role in FloraHolland’s long-term strategy of demand driven logistics and following evaluation the successful pilot scheme will be extended to more parts of the distribution process.
Over 60% of global exports in cut flowers and plant sales go through the Netherlands. As the world’s no1 flower and plant distributor, FloraHolland already handles 125,000 auction transactions each day and the new system will enable the company to handle significantly increased sales volumes.
FloraHolland’s Marcel Claessen explained: ”We have been in discussions with Logistex for some time to develop the concept and prototype, and we are ready to put the first phase into operation for evaluation. Their experience – and as a 4th party integrator their ability to choose the most suitable technologies for what is an unusual and demanding assignment – convinced us that they have the expertise to manage the first stage of such a vital project.”
