Quiet Storm Consultants is a Leicestershire-based public relations consultancy with a reputation for producing marketing communications programmes that contribute significantly to the achievement of its clients’ business objectives. 

Since 1990, the company has created and implemented public relations campaigns for major companies in the supply chain and associated industries, including Culina Logistics, Christian Salvesen, NYK Logistics, Spatial Logistics, Lex Harvey, Momentum Logistics Recruitment, Davies & Robson, Norbert Dentressangle and Gideon Hillman amongst others.

Services include media relations, marketing strategy, in-house communications, corporate literature, crisis management, media training, communications audits and advertising. The business makes a success of any challenge, but is particularly strong in warehousing and distribution, retail, control systems, telecommunications, recruitment, construction and training.

What’s the most exciting thing about your job?

Never really knowing what the coming day will hold, but knowing that it will be a challenge and – hopefully – fun.

Steve Jobs of Apple.

If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?

A brown pallet.

What brought you to this industry?

Getting an opportunity to work with the then Christian Salvesen – almost all our logistics work can be traced back to Salvesen.

If you had to do it all over again, what would you do different?

Start playing golf at an earlier age.

What’s your favourite pastime?

Three guesses.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you?

Allowing a tipsy marketing director from a major client to take over the microphone and give a speech at our Christmas bash. Halfway through he ran out to the toilet and threw up – still holding the live mike.

Do you have any hidden talents?

People may not believe it, but I’m a good listener.

Who would be your favourite party guest?

Peter Kay or Stephen Fry.

What is the greatest luxury in your life?

Time to myself.

If you won the Lottery, what would you do?

Try very hard to get my golf handicap down from 11 to a single figure, in the Algarve, on the course next to my villa, with Jennifer Aniston as my caddie.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Rhod Gilbert. Most other stand-ups.

Do you have any secret ambitions?

To write an Oscar-winning screenplay or a Booker Prize-winning novel.

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

Depends on my mood – Iceland for exploring, Italy for culture, Algarve for golf, Florida for fun.

Anything by Pixar.

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Who or what do you detest the most?

Sanctimonious politicians.

What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?

Come on in. The water’s lovely.
