t5_ec-h2o_warehouse1Tennant UK is now able to offer its customers the opportunity to further boost their cash flow, reduce water use and reduce water bills through the DEFRA (Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme for Water Efficient Technologies.

The scheme enables Tennant customers in contract cleaning, facilities management, food and drink, retail, warehousing and logistics, healthcare, engineering and manufacturing among many other industries, to claim 100% first year capital allowance on investments in technologies and products that encourage sustainable water use.  Tennant customers are now able to write off the whole cost of their investment against their taxable profits of the period during which they make the investment rather than spreading it over up to 12 years. The scheme covers all Tennant pedestrian FaST and ec-H20 machines purchased since September 2009 and highlights another achievement in Tennant’s commitment to sustainable cleaning.

Nick Meredith, General Manager UK and Ireland, comments: “We are delighted to be awarded the DEFRA Capital Allowance Scheme for Water Efficient Technologies and see this as another important step in partnering with our customers to achieve sustainable cleaning and cost efficiency. Now, more than ever, companies are having to tightly manage their budgets, and to have the opportunity to help improve our customer’s cash flow whilst maintaining their environmental commitment is a positive step forward for everyone.”

The scheme dictates that the qualifying technologies have to meet defined water saving criteria. They will be published in a list on the DEFRA website and the criteria will be reviewed on an annual basis. All allowances are due in the first year, positively affecting a customer’s cash flow and claims can be made for the price paid for the new product, the cost of transportation of the equipment to the site and the installation costs. Tennant is currently looking at extending the allowance to include its FaST and ec-H20 ride-on scrubber-dryers.

ec-h20_taglineTennant’s ec-H2O™ technology recently won the European Business Award for Innovation in 2009. ec-H20 electrically converts plain tap water into a powerful cleaning agent by temporarily altering the molecular structure of water. Once activated, the water attracts dirt better than commonly-used chemical detergents. The ec-H2O technology is available on Tennant floor scrubbing machines.
