Acumen Logistics Group has today announced that it has acquired 100% of the share capital of Auto UK Logistics Ltd from proprietor, Malcolm Daffron, who has emigrated from the UK to New Zealand. Now currently being renamed Acumen Auto Logistics Ltd, the acquisition strengthens Acumen’s penetration of the UK Automotive Logistics sector.
Based in Coventry, the company delivers finished vehicles via a fleet of specialist car transporters and has contracts with the Ford Motor Company to deliver export Land Rover vehicles to UK Ports of Exit.
Prior to its acquisition, Auto UK Logistics had been experiencing a substantial downturn in its business due to the economic recession. Now, following the capital injection from Acumen, the company is well placed to capitalise on an upturn in the economy when market conditions become more favourable. It is anticipated that this year Acumen Auto Logistics will turnover circa £1m, operating between seven and 10 specialist car transporters.

Acumen has been growing steadily over the past two years through a diverse range of services that include inbound automotive parts, kerbside recycling collections, the transport of gases and chemicals and healthcare and retail logistics. Recently the company launched Acufreight, an innovative system that creates a competitive marketplace for backloads and recyclates. The online freight system benefits both customers and hauliers by creating a real-time exchange platform matching unallocated loads with empty vehicles travelling across the UK.
