hpl-roddasCornwall based A.E.Rodda & Sons, producers of world famous Rodda’s Cornish Clotted Cream has chosen another Hubbard Eutectic refrigeration unit for the latest additions to its refrigerated distribution fleet.

The two 5 tonne Volkswagen Crafter CR50 medium wheelbase chassis cabs with refrigerated box bodies have been added to Rodda’s fleet which serves the South, South West and London from its Scorrier, Redruth base. The Hubbard Eutectic systems use silent gel filled beams to provide totally reliable cooling and freezing on box bodies. The beams are charged overnight by a condensing unit using off peak electricity. The temperature is maintained during deliveries by absorbing the heat through the Eutectic beams. This product is specifically designed for Multi-drop deliveries, using cab mounted, mains powered condensing units as chosen by Rodda’s.

Simon Barker, Transport and Logistics Manager for Rodda’s says “The Hubbard Eutectic system is ideal for our operation and we have been using the system for several years now. As a producer of high quality, premium Cornish Clotted Cream for over one hundred years delivering our products in the very best condition is critical to our business model. Each vehicle fitted with the Eutectic system has to be capable of between 40 and 70 door openings in each delivery cycle, so quick pull down and maintaining an even temperature of 4°C is a hard task for any chilling system. In our experience Hubbard Eutectic is not only competent, it is cost effective as well, allowing us to benefit from low cost overnight electricity tariffs and to plan for consistent product delivery with early morning starts”.

The Hubbard Eutectic range is a powerful yet quiet solution, its mains powered condensing units with a patented gel filled beam provide the ultimate in reliable transport refrigeration. The beams are frozen overnight ensuring that during delivery use there is nothing that can cause a failure of cooling within their holdover range. The gel means that even damaged beams don’t leak.

Hubbard Eutectic refrigeration systems offer reliable cooling and freezing for box bodies on 3.5 tonne chassis and upwards. Roof or wall mounted beams are frozen down overnight by the mains powered condensing unit mounted on the vehicle (either overcab or undermounted). Once the beams are frozen they guarantee constant refrigeration in line with their holdover capacity.

Once the vehicle is in use the Hubbard Eutectic system is totally silent in operation. Seven beam lengths and six condensing units mean that this flexible system can be applied to a wide variety of vehicles to match journey length / working day, drop rates etc. For close control of chill temperatures there are fan assisted beam stacks providing up to 26250 Whrs of cooling.

Jed Sherwood, Key Accounts Manager for Hubbard Products transport division says: “Rodda’s are a very high profile, blue chip client serving some of the UK’s most prestigious outlets with a totally unique product, so it goes without saying that quality control is key to their brand values. Hubbard is pleased to have once again been chosen to support Rodda’s in the ongoing development of their business. I believe that Hubbard’s ability to offer a range of specialist refrigeration systems that are ideal for niche markets such as Rodda’s and our nationwide, 24 hour service team made it an easy choice for A.E. Rodda and Sons”.
