quartermaster_healthcareBedford Shelving Ltd, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of high-quality wire, aluminium, stainless steel and chrome shelving for healthcare and catering use, has moved to a new location in Yorkshire.

The company, which has a 174-year heritage in the wire and shelving industry, has opened a new 1000 sq ft showroom which is supported by a significant on-site manufacturing operation and a factory in Brighouse.

As well as racking, Bedford Shelving’s wire products have been used in hospitals for more than 40 years and include catheter racks, dressing dispensers and steriliser baskets alongside stacking and shelf baskets and specialist wall-mounted racks.

Commenting on the relocation, Mark Walsh, Director, said: “Having the support of the manufacturing centres alongside the showroom is a major boost and will help us to continue to develop our extensive range of products in the healthcare and catering markets.

“The move will also increase our ability to design bespoke items to order, from original ideas that can initially seem very sketchy.

“We employ craftsmen who can make small quantities and prototypes from simple jigs – and this is a service which appeals to increasing numbers of customers.”

Bedford Shelving Ltd is most widely known for its category-leading ‘Quartermaster’ and ‘Livewire’ hygienic shelving solutions.

Quartermaster has been the company’s main wire shelving system for well over 25 years and is available in mild steel with a bright zinc plated finish – or a tough smooth nylon finish for damp environments – and in 304 grade stainless steel for sterile environments.

Quartermaster shelving is strong and rigid and is made mobile by fitting castors and is a popular choice for commercial kitchens fridges and freezers as well as sterile and medical stores.

Livewire, meanwhile, has an iconic wave edge shelf design and is supported using conical shelf supports connected to posts via a white plastic shelf support, which locates over a post ring.

It is available in a bright and durable chrome finish, while 400mm deep shelves feature an epoxy seal which gives the shelving resistance to damp environments such as cold-rooms.

Livewire is a popular choice for display as well as storage applications and 75mm castors can be fitted into the posts to make units mobile.

The company has launched a new website, www.bedfordshelf.com, which outlines its full products and applications.
