Leading materials handling manufacturer Jungheinrich has increased its productivity with the installation of a TwinRam vehicle lift from Stertil Koni.
The company’s National Engineering Centre at Risley in Warrington had previously managed with a static, floor-mounted ramp that proved to be cumbersome and difficult to work with. After reports that a Stertil Koni lift was increasing productivity at Jungheinrich’s refurbishment centre in Dresden, the company’s UK arm also decided to purchase a similar unit.
Stertil Koni believes quality pays and its commercial vehicle lifts from German manufacturer JA Becker (exclusive to Stertil in the UK) are ideal examples of this. JAB engineers are constantly working to redefine state-of-the-art-technology and the TwinRam lift is now in its second generation, with greater technical precision and particular emphasis on user-friendliness.
The TwinRam vehicle lift has several models offering different ram distances of 1300, 1700 and 2300mm. There are a number of different carrier bridges and head pieces available, including JAB’s specially-designed ‘System Essmann’ head piece with spring plates. The lift also has optional swivelling arms and drive-on rails.
Jungheinrich is using the lift to raise fork-lift equipment into the air, improving access and enabling better working practices. “We are very happy with the performance of the lift from Stertil Koni and are already planning a second unit in 2009,” says Ian Smith of Jungheinrich UK. “The increased speed and ease of access that the lift has provided is already having a positive effect on our productivity.”
Jungheinrich manufactures pallet trucks, counterbalance trucks, reach trucks, order pickers, narrow aisle and stacker cranes in more than 600 truck variants. It also provides an extensive after-sales support network, rental and financial services, racking systems and warehouse planning, with over 500 service engineers in six countrywide locations.
Stertil Koni supplies vehicle lifts known for their reliability, long lifespan and high resale value. It was the first lifting system manufacturer to be awarded ISO 9001 and is part of the Stertil Group.
