SSI Schaefer has successfully combined two separate stores areas into one brand new parts department allowing Househam Sprayers and Spraycare, to operate its worldwide customer service centre more effectively and efficiently than before.
Househam Sprayers based in Leadenham, Lincolnshire, have been designing, manufacturing and distributing chemical sprayers for over 25 years, taking advantage of the very latest technology to give a high performance spraying application that meets with environmental needs and legislation.
Househam Sprayers wanted to centralise its parts operation by moving the Househam parts department for self propelled sprayers, from Leadenham, over 20 miles away, into the main purpose built stores facility at Roughton Moor. Househam and Spraycare parts, for mounted and trailed sprayers, could then effectively operate as one complete stores department in order to provide its UK and worldwide customers with an unrivalled parts delivery service.
Parts Manager, John Dent, at Househam Sprayers, swiftly brought in materials handling experts SSI Schaefer, He said: “Having worked with SSI Schaefer previously and knowing the quality of service, equipment and ‘know-how’ in this area, I was confident of Schaefer’s ability to work closely with us in order to create an enhanced stores department that would ultimately benefit the end customer whilst keeping disruption to operations to a minimum.”
To make best use of the available space whilst providing a more efficient stores set-up, SSI Schaefer designed and installed a two-tier shelving construction with R3000 shelving on the ground level with a timber floor over on the first level to accommodate the existing customer racking.
Schaefer’s R3000 modular shelving system provides Househam Sprayers with a versatile economical storage solution that can be extended as required at any time from single to multi-tier, whilst the slot-in frame system can hold up to 3.5 tonnes and is available in a variety of heights and depths.
The new shelving installation enabled Househam Sprayers to combine two separate parts areas into one with ease, resulting in the continued success of its global customer service and parts operations.
John Dent continued: “Centralising our parts operation has allowed us to provide an improved first pick on orders as we no longer have delays in moving parts between two locations, we have clearer and more accurate inventory reporting and control and the added benefit of the product knowledge of our parts staff being at one location.”
