ipp_pstorerFollowing major new contract wins in the midlands, pallet rental specialist, IPP Logipal has expanded its UK operation with the opening of a new pallet depot in Leicester.

Based at one of the UK’s leading logistics suppliers, The Widdowson Group, the addition of this new facility takes IPP Logipal’s UK and Ireland (UK&I) network to 10 locations. With the capability of eventually handling up to three million pallets per annum, Leicester is also its largest site.

With the logistics company providing onsite warehousing in a central UK location, close to major motorway networks, and IPP Logipal pooling high quality pallets for the FMCG sector, this long-term deal represents an ideal collaboration.

As part of its ongoing strategic development, the site provides a key platform for IPP Logipal to provide unrivalled capability and enhanced services for some of its largest customers on their doorstep.

The relationship also enables The Widdowson Group to diversify the range of services it offers with a comprehensive logistics solution.

The facility has the capacity to handle a throughput of up to 1.8 million pallets per annum and operate 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.

As part of a network that covers the whole of the UK&I and continental Europe, IPP Logipal’s pallets will be despatched by the Widdowson group to manufacturers for use as an integral part in their supply chains. All pallets will be subject to IPP Logipal’s rigorous quality control checks backed by a full repair service.

With IPP Logipal’s one-way trip system becoming a major force in the FMCG market generally across a number of market sectors, this investment provides the opportunity to continue expansion plans and meet the higher demand for its services.

Phil Storer, UK&I director and European vice president at IPP Logipal, says: “We are committed to improving services in the pallet market and are continuously looking at new ways to meet the requirement of new and existing customers.

“Working with a well known logistics provider in The Widdowson Group allows us to have a centrally based presence in an area which is key to the UK manufacturing sector with many big name manufacturers based in the region.”

IPP Logipal has customers operating across many industry sectors including bakery, chilled food and drink, fresh produce, alcoholic beverages, and health and beauty.

IPP Logipal is part of the Faber Halbertsma Group, which has a turnover of £200 million. The UK&I operation was established in 2005 and the company specialises in providing a high quality pallet service to the FMCG (fast moving consumer goods), retail and electronic sectors. IPP Logipal is a member of Timcon – the timber packaging and pallet confederation.

The Faber Halbertsma Group is the leading fullservice supplier of wooden packaging in Western Europe. The company produces, rents, repairs and sells pallets. Employing over 700 people and with over 30 million pallet movements every year through a sophisticated network of depots and call centres, the group has a leading position in the European market.
